California is the third largest state in the county. Because California has such a large population, it is no surprise that it has the most registered vehicles and one of the highest accident rates in the country, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. When you're behind the wheel in California, several factors can threaten your trip.

From bad conditions on the road to distracted drivers, these are just some examples of hazards you can confront on any given day. The aftermath of a car accident is not only traumatic, but it can also leave lasting impacts. Fatal Three-Vehicle Collision on Pacific Coast Highway

According to the CHP incident report log, on August 11th, 2023, one unknown male driver was killed and pronounced dead at the scene in a three-vehicle crash occurring around 4:39 p.m. on Pacific Coast Highway near Point Mugu. One of the vehicles involved reportedly rolled over and caught fire. Firefighters at the scene put out the vehicle shortly after 5 p.m. and described all three vehicles as having major damage.

It was determined by an initial investigation conducted by CHP that the deceased driver was headed southbound in a white 2022 BMW passenger vehicle when he crossed over double solid-yellow lines and into the northbound lane. An oncoming 2012 Ford truck carrying two Oxnard men collided with the oncoming vehicle. The truck crossed over into the southbound lane because of the collision, where it crashed into an oncoming 2019 Honda passenger vehicle.

The five survivors were transported to a local hospital, only suffering minor injuries from small cuts to seatbelt abrasions. At Las Posas and Mugu Rock, CHP officials closed northbound lanes after the fatal crash.
